Bought back when I was still an evangelical, finally got it cleared off my to-read shelf. It's still painfully evangelical, but the impetus toward community organizing and enabling is solid. Would recommend it for lots of evangelicals I know... and probably nobody else.

Four chapters, containing four distinct perspectives on Christian Universalism. Some more familiar than others, all helpful as an exploration of various angles Christian theologians have taken in support of that view. Aimed probably a little bit above my head, but still manageable and accessible. The fourth option, Existential Universalism, was new to me and will have me thinking for a while.

Interesting, but a little heavy-handed and very on the nose.

Tediously repetitive. Not enough science to engage on that front, not enough theology to engage on the other.

A reasonably entertaining adventure story. Not sure it accomplishes everything the author wants from a philosophical standpoint, but it was an easy and fun read.

Bass's "memoir theology" rings true, reminding us of Jesus the friend, teacher, savior, lord, way, and presence. Unsurprisingly, I found her chapter on "way" where she describes being trapped in the world of Calvinist evangelicalism and the painful path leaving it to be particularly resonant.

Hell is... graduate school? Clever and creative storytelling. I enjoyed it.
